"We are transplants from the Boston area. In 2002, we discovered Pamlico Plantation after several years of looking for a great place to live our retirement years in North Carolina. We had grown weary of the harsh winters, the congestion, the high costs of living and the daily stress so prevalent up North. We had built and remodeled more than a few homes before building our dream house on four acres here in the Plantation. We have become increasingly involved in different altruistic endeavors, from the Washington Noon Rotary, pro-bono consulting work, Pamlico Plantation HOA committees, church committees and the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Brown Library. Since moving here, Bob has discovered golf which fills many of his days and Louise continues with her interest in horticulture. We travel a lot but always return to our retreat in this quiet haven here in this community." - Bob and Louise
"My husband Robert and I purchased a townhome in 2009 for a weekend and summer getaway. We remodeled and began coming to the Plantation in the spring of 2010. We decided in May of 2013 to sell both our home in Greenville, NC, and our townhome and purchase one home on the water. We looked everywhere, but nothing could compare to Pamlico Plantation. We held out until a home on the water here that we felt could be our home became available. We were here for the summer and I rode through every day looking for a new listing. We finally found a home that had only been listed two days and looked at it and in July 2013 we had a new home. We love this community, its amenities, the neighbors and the atmosphere. It is our little piece of Heaven and would not trade it."
"When we found Pamlico Plantation, we felt like we were at summer camp. All the amenities we wanted, including a boat slip. It's a perfect world, surrounded by nature and the best sunsets ever."

"Twenty years ago we arrived in Washington, NC, and Pamlico Plantation to begin an exciting, albeit uncertain, future. From then till now, we continue to sing the same mantra -- beautiful, friendly, country-like, friendly, activities, friendly, parties, friendly, boating, friendly....did I say friendly!! How lucky to have found a home away from home. How beautiful the flora, fauna and waterways of Eastern Carolina. How blessed to have a rock-solid family/community in good times and bad, in sickness and health, even the saddest times in life. Come to Pamlico Plantation and LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER." - Terry
"We're retirees from Southern California. That part of California is a fast pace high cost of living area with an enormous population that we have lived with all our adult lives. We were ready for a change. We searched for two years by internet and RV travel in many parts of the country from the N/W to the S/E and decided on our new home here at the Plantation. We chose this area for a number of reasons, including waterfront living, a climate with seasons, a great medical network and great value for the beautiful home we bought. We love the forest we live in with the close connection to all the things one could want in the way of city and retail services. We have also found that the people who live in our community are one of its greatest strengths. Our new neighbors, friends and the various committees available helped with the transition from west coast to east coast living. There is a great sense of community here we very much like." - Anna
